Here's What I Have Been Learning...

I had kind of gotten out of the habit of doing my devotions every day. But, this past week - I have really been trying to get better and to make more of an effort to spend some time with my Father. I've learned that being more Christ-like is something that you really have to work towards. I know, I know - it's a pretty basic thing. However, I often do my devotions, pray that I will "do better," and then sit back and wait for God to work. Silly, right?

I just finished reading Creative Counterpart by Linda Dillow (given to me by Shawn's mom for Christmas), and one of the first topics that came up was how we can't just sit back and "let God work." Of course, He will work in us and through us, but it is up to us as well. If I want to be a Godly woman and a Godly wife, it is going to take hard work and an honest effort on my part.

While I am excited to start this next chapter of my life, I am also intimidated by it. But, I know that I am where God wants me to be right now and I know that He will help me and guide me through everything that is coming my way (lots of stress - lol).

Sounds like a good book....I understand exactly what you are saying...I can be the same way too...It is something that I am starting to realize...For a long time, I think I just did was I was supposed to do as a Christian and left it there. I wasn't constantly striving to be more like Christ. I am still trying to wrap my head around the concepts from Don't Waste Your Life and how we need to surrender our entire lives to God...
I'm exciting about reading this blog...it's going to be good:)

Great thoughts! It is so true- we have to do our part! The amazing thing is no matter how many times we fail to submit, He always forgives and gives us more grace! His love isn't dependent on us at all- and that makes me want to be with Him all the more :) What an encouragement to see a young lady striving to be more like Jesus! Thanks for the invite!

I wish I had been where you are when I was when you are! God is good and the journey isn't over until it is over and we are on the "other" side. If it weren't for His grace we would all give up. It is a joy to see you starting the adventure of life together with Shawn seeking the Lord. Excited to finally be getting another daughter by love!
