I've been dealing with feeling like what I am doing is insignificant. It's hard when I don't have a full-time job, I didn't go to school past getting an AA, and I am home alone a lot (sometimes busy, but often doing "nothing"). There may be a chance I've written about this before, but Pastor's sermon really hit me deep and I feel like it filled in a lot of the cracks where my heart has been hurting.
The sermon was based on Luke 19:11-27 (The Parable of the 10 Minas). You should really read it sometime - I would go into detail here, but you'll get more out of it if you go right to the source (as it should be). Anyway, the whole story is about what you do with what you're given. Even when you think what you are doing is "little" or "unimportant" (as I so often do), that's not the case. I need to be diligent in whatever I do, wherever God has placed me, & what He has called me to do. And, in addition to that, I need to be faithful in using what God has given to me.
Even when I feel like what I am doing is monotonous, useless, & worthless - I need to remember that God has placed me where I am. It's up to me to use what I am doing to glorify Him. The most seemingly insignificant things can be used to glorify Him. Am I living with significance? Am I living in a way so that I realize God is in control and God is using me in whatever situation I am in?
I love it! I so needed to be reminded that what I am doing isn't unimportant (even if others think it is). I am where God wants me to be, and I need to do my best in that situation. I know, I've said that a lot, but I am mostly reminding myself ;)
I loved the application questions at the end, too. They really helped me to dig deeper and to think about what I had just heard. So, of course, I'll share them with you. Be greatful (lol):
~ What have you contributed to life? Who would miss you if you were gone?
~ How are you doing with the ordinary opportunities to show your loyalty to Jesus? Where might you like to improve?
~ Where are you taking risk for the cause of Christ? What do you think Jesus would like you to do through the rest of this year?
~ What would it mean for you to live a life of significance?
"A little thing is a little thing, but faithfulness in a little thing is a big thing and is the way we live with significance."

I have struggled with that too- although it has gotten better. Growing in relationship with Him, He desires that, us, so much more than what we can DO for Him. So glad it helped you and that you feel more at ease with where God has you now!
Andi~
What a great post. Every woman I have known has struggled at one time or another with the same thoughts. When I was first married, I thought, all I do is clean. (We lived in Germany and Dave was in the Army) But that was a lie. I was making a home for Dave and I. I was learning to be his helper in tons of ways....even in learning to 'really' communicate...not just talk at each other. So significant! I look back and see "YES--God has a plan...and every little thing is part of that plan". You are blessed to be on such a path and to be a 'thinker'.....so many are not! You go girl!!!! Love you Andi ~
Great post, Andi! I agree with Mel and Sherry. I think every woman feels this way at some point or points in their lives. Thanks for posting as we were away that week. Great thoughts to ponder.
